Dirt Cheap Divorces, herein referred to as DCD, is a secretarial service and as such, follows the rules as set forth for non-lawyers in Florida Family Law Rule of Procedure 12.750, which does not allow staff to complete forms for you, represent you in court, or give you legal advice. Further, DCD cannot tell you what your legal rights or remedies are, nor can we tell you how to testify in court. DCD may not alter the form, delete or add language, or advise you as to which packet of forms to use.

DCD can provide you with information about the forms for self-filing for divorce (Dissolution of Marriage), provide you with all the necessary Supreme Court Approved Family Law forms in your selected packet, and information about the legal process, so that you can make informed decisions about your case. DCD may transcribe the information exactly as provided verbally, or in writing by the self-represented person without addition, deletion, correction, or editorial comment. Further, DCD will provide information on the filing fees and advise you as to where to file the completed forms in your county, anywhere in Florida.

DCD is not acting on behalf of any court, or judge. Each case has its own particular set of circumstances, and an attorney may advise you of what is best for you in your individual situation. If you have questions about your legal rights, you may wish to hire an attorney.

DCD cannot guarantee that either the instructions or the forms will achieve the result desired by the parties, or ensure that any individual judge will follow the procedures exactly, or accept each and every form as drafted. The judge is not required to grant the relief requested in a form.

DCD will make every effort to provide the most accurate and up-to-date forms, but the law does change and at any given point may become outdated. Should a form prove outdated at the time of filing, DCD will work with the clerk’s office and customer to obtain the updated form, and then provide the information as to where to file it.

Given the above information, I wish to contract DCD to provide the packet of forms I have selected and secretarial assistance necessary for my self-filing for Dissolution of Marriage. I understand that Lin A. Grant and any employees of DCD are non-lawyers, and as such, CANNOT provide any advice, advise me of my legal rights or remedies, testify in court, select which form packet to use, fill out the forms other than to copy what I have written or stated verbally, guarantee the time period, or outcome of the court’s decision.

In no event will the Florida Supreme Court, The Florida Bar, DCD owner/employees, or anyone contributing to the production/distribution of these forms or instructions be liable for any direct, indirect, or consequential damages resulting from their use.

Our fee does NOT include the required court filing fee for your county (usually $418). Neither does our fee include any additional fees that your county may require depending on the specifics of your case, i.e. parenting class (usually $35), and/or mediation (usually $60-120). Should it become necessary to change packets after the initial packet has been delivered, I agree to pay DCD an additional $175 service fee, plus any service packet price differences ($100-$200 for Personal Service or Publication packets).

You may cancel this service contract, via written request to dirtcheapdivorces@msn.com, at anytime up until your packet is delivered. Returns and/or cancellations of service will not be accepted once the packet is delivered. However, our service is guaranteed at any future date, should you wish to commence with the proceedings.
